Delivery of the Building

You must prepare yourself and the construction site before your steel building is delivered. After purchasing your steel building system, the delivery arrangements will be made by the supplier according to the order documents. The end-user will be responsible for the receipt of the materials at the jobsite unless their independent erector or independent contractor will be there to receive and inspect them.

Be sure that the steel building supplier has your correct delivery address in the order documents, because this is the information they will be using to make the shipping arrangements. If there are any changes in the shipping destination, please let the supplier know when they call to set up delivery and give them directions to the job-site if needed.

SPECIFYING THE DELIVERY DATE

It takes several weeks to design and fabricate a steel building, so you need to take this into consideration when specifying the shipping date.

If the erection process is not going to begin immediately upon delivery, you will need plastic or something durable to cover and protect the building materials from the elements. Even though the components are delivered with protective coatings and primer, it is not enough protection if the materials will be sitting on the ground for a few weeks before erection.

Most experienced independent builders are booked out weeks or months in advance. It is a good idea to schedule the erection of your building as soon as possible, so you will be able to specify the delivery date of your steel building system.
